Imagining New Futures

The Doorway Project partnered with the University of Washington CoLab to create "Using Art to Imagine New Futures in Youth Wellness Policy," a two-day immersive exploration of creativity and youth wellness through an arts-based conference. This event aimed to explore how art and community access can intersect to unlock new pathways for supporting youth wellness in programming and policy. Emphasizing the importance of creativity and arts in developing more inclusive, youth-centered policies and programs. The "Imagine New Futures" event successfully brought together a wide range of stakeholders to explore the powerful role of arts in promoting youth wellness.
Day One of the conference was led by small group of youth artists mentored by the Doorway Project, “B.Radical”, the artist cohort of youth participants created an immersive arts installation at Washington Hall that was for youth and by youth. This installation set the stage for the public activities on Day Two.
Day Two was open to the public, this day brought together diverse voices from across Washington state, including arts and youth-serving organizations, youth, researchers, and policymakers. Artist from the youth cohort B.Radical, led a panel discussion highlighting community needs for art access, and youth centered third spaces in the community.
